Supplies

Just got my shipment in of canvases.. now I use to paint on canvas about 2 years ago and compared to wood I will take wood over canvas any day..but I did some research on prepping and one thing I missed out when I use to paint on canvas was the sanding (I know you are probably like DUH!) well I did 2 coats of thin downed gesso then once it dried I sanded it down with a fine grit sandpaper and holy hell what a difference that makes, definitely not as smooth as wood, but good enough that is really smooth with still a little teeth to capture some of my strokes.. can't wait to get started on the 20x20's... I also may be able to do multiple paintings since oil takes longer to dry than acrylic so this should speed up productivity.. good thing I bought that extra easel

Progress #2

Loving this oil thing!

Oils

Sneak peek at a huge painting on working on. I decided to give the water mixable oils a chance and I absolutely love them! not saying I will abandon acrylics.. but will definitely be pushed aside for awhile.. loving this new medium!

Progress #1

So this is my first time using my new "style" on a size this big and damn was it time consuming.. it's kinda of a bad pic,but you get the idea. It's about half way done, background that is and I didn't finish it until 12:30 last night. Two things I must say, stay wet palette is the jam! it's crazy how hour after hour the paints are still moist, boggles me, and two Golden OPEN acrylics are good, but not amazing how I first said when I used them, I was into them when I first got them because I tried them on a small canvas...now using them on a bigger canvas, it can be tricky and you have to work a little faster.. so that leads me to my next conclusion..should I still use Golden OPEN acrylics or should I use Windsor & Newtons artisan water based oils? hmm I did buy a starter pack and returned it once I found out my local art shop carried Golden OPEN.. not sure.. damn mediums haha

Watercolor, Studio, Canvas

So for my upcoming solo show Sweet Tooth, I decided to try to do some newer work on canvas, it felt odd prepping a new one after a little over a year of not touching canvas since switching over to wood. I'll make sure to post progress shots as well...I also added a few pics of some graphite and acrylic pieces I have been working for another solo in December...planning on keeping this show smaller and not as crazy, also just redid my studio as well.. I bought a small "art cart" so that my paints are on the right of me versus to my left and now I'm sitting lower and closer to my easel.. haven't tried it but I'm thinking this should be a lot more comfortable to work with.

Rejected Christmas Dunny

I was asked by Kid robot to submit a couple of designs for there upcoming series (I submitted 3 those got rejected as well haha) afterward I remembered that I mocked up a Christmas dunny so I decided to send that to them as well along with a chase (come on now a kinky ass Mrs. Claws with a martini glass? you know they get down over at the north pole).. no go but maybe next time.. still stoked though that Kid Robot gave me this opportunity
